TYLER TROUSERS + TOP WORKSHOP! AUG 23rd and 30th 5-8pm

$145.00
Sold Out

Rev up your machines, Sewists! In August we are not only sewing one piece, we are making a whole linen outfit! Join us to make a pair of Tyler Trousers and a One Yard Minimalist Top out of gorgeous linen. These are quick and easy patterns that will be great additions to your wardrobe, and both are zero waste patterns meaning there are no paper patterns to print and there is little to no fabric waste. Big hooray for that! (Please note: the tank in the first photo is not the top pattern we will be making).

This workshop will be two 3 hour sessions. The first session (Aug 23rd 5-8pm) will be measuring, preparing and cutting fabric and beginning the construction of our garments. The second session (Aug 30th 5-8pm) will be putting the finishing touches on our trousers and tops and trying them on for a fun group photo!

The Tyler Trousers are wide leg with an elastic waist and goes up to a 66 inch hip. The One Yard Minimalist Top can be made waist length or cropped and has a square neck. There is an option to add sleeves or leave it sleeveless and it can be customized with embroidery, top stitching and contrasting fabric. This pattern will accommodate up to a 59 inch bust.

*You must have some basic machine sewing experience to attend this workshop. This class is appropriate for a confidant beginner. Please choose your 1st and 2nd fabric color choices from this link for your top and your trousers (they do not have to be the same color) and include that information when you check out: linen fabric. I will do my best to accommodate your first choice, but occasionally colors become unavailable.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • how to measure your body and choose your size

  • How to make minor adjustments to the pattern for a better fit

  • How to sew a garment with no paper pattern

Included in this workshop:

  • 100% linen fabric in your choice of color

  • elastic, interfacing, and other notions to complete your project

  • embroidery thread for customizing your OYMT.

  • printed instructions

  • thread and sewing machine needles

  • 6 hours of guided and hands on instruction from Erika

  • access to the huge community bin of fabric that can be used for patchwork pockets!

  • access to a serger to finish seams

Please bring to the workshop:

  • a functional sewing machine if you have one (I have a couple studio machines that you are welcome to use if needed. Please let me know and I will have one ready for you!)

  • Sharp fabric scissors if you have ‘em! We have studio scissors, but there never seems to be enough pairs to go around!

  • Everything else for your project will be provided!

This in-person event will take place in my teaching studio located at 104 W. 31st Street in Garden City, ID. Please arrive on time. The studio can get warm so dress accordingly. Bring along a closed water bottle and snacks! There is a small kitchen available for taking breaks.
